Britain’s biggest Lego show boasting Star Wars heroes and Ninja Turtles to launch this weekend

Thousands of fans will flock to Britain’s largest Lego expo boasting life-size Marvel Avengers, video games and a brick pit boasting 3 million pieces.

They are the plastic building blocks that enriched children’s playtimes… and are the enemy of bare feet everywhere.

Now the humble Lego set is making a big step up from the living room toy box to a major London exhibition centre.

‘Brick 2015: Built for Lego Fans’ showcases some of the most creative and artistic feats achieved using the toy.

Last year’s debut was the biggest ever and organisers hope to eclipse that in 2015.

Returning with the biggest Lego show in the country, the London Docklands ExCel Centre will boast colossal displays of favourite Lego characters including the Avenger’s Hulkbuster – which took six master builders over 960 hours to assemble – Lord of the Ring’s Gandalf and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Lego fans can dive into a Brick pits filled with more than 3 million pieces or create their own plastic masterpiece.

Also on display will be the UK’s largest Lego map where devotees can add their own piece to help create Britain.

And there is the chance to buy the perfect Christmas presents at the event with second hand stalls selling hard-to-find pieces or rare characters to add to your collection.

You can also discover how these tiny little plastic blocks became the world’s biggest selling toy, reigning supreme for generations at the Lego Museum, which offers visitors a chance to take a look at the history of Lego and discover how it all began back in 1949.

Look out for the Guinness World Record attempts taking place over the weekend too. After last year’s event where Brick broke five records they intend on breaking even more this year!

But as any parent will know, Lego bricks can turn the safest of living rooms into a minefield of potential pain.

But now the legendary toy brand has launched a bid to save grown-ups from the agony of stepping on a stray brick.

It has teamed up with a French branding agency to release specially-designed slippers with extra thick, Lego-proof soles.

In a post on Facebook, which we’ve run through Google Translate, Lego said its slip-ons will “enable you to walk in the house in the middle of the night without a care”.

“Because your kids love Lego and share their passion throughout the house, we have designed the ultimate gift for Christmas,” it added.

Anyone who signs up to Lego’s website and creates a Christmas wishlist has a chance of winning one of 1,500 pairs of slippers.

Lego is expected to occupy a key spot in Santa’s sack this year, with Star Wars models predicted to be a popular Xmas gift.
